For a Fine Gentleman - Challenge 115

It's Thursday and there's a new challenge starting at Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog.  The theme for this fortnight is For the Men in Our Life. Our sponsor is Doodle Pantry and I chose this fabulous vintage set to use on my card. It comes with a digi to colour, several pre-coloured images, digi papers and several sentiments. A wonderful set to use for male cards.
I decided to go with a pre-coloured image for my card this time around, one of the papers (which I enlarged slightly) and also one of the sentiments.
Here is my card......

Recipe:
SU Chocolate Chip cardstock for the cardbase and mattes
SU Sahara Sand cardstock for the embossed pieces and a matte.(It looks a bit grey here, but it is a pale brown/sand colour)
Image is from Doodle Pantry - Vintage Gentleman
DP is from the same set
Sentiment also from the set
Cuttlebug embossing folder (not sure of the name - it's one I had before I started saving the packaging)
Punch - oval
SU Chocolate Chip inkpad
Bling from stash

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
Cuttlebug Mania - Anything embossed
Deep Ocean Challenge Blog - Challenge #86 ~ Vintage
Through the Craftroom Door - Anything Goes
Crafty Cardmakers and more - Challenge #122 ~ Make an impression (dry embossing)
Sentimental Sundays - Challenge #223 ~ A Touch of Vintage

This was a reasonably quick card to make due to the wonderful pre-coloured image and the added bonuses of the digi paper and sentiments that came with it. Just had to work out the layout and voila! a great male themed card to add to my already huge stash of cards, lol.
Please pop in to the challenge blog and check out my teamies fabulous makes and we would love to hear from you too. I'm looking forward to seeing all the wonderful creations this time. Some of us find it harder to do male cards and I for one am always open to some inspiration, lol.
Thanks for stopping by today
Hugs,
Sandy

The Adamant Golfer - Focus MIM #108

I can't believe how fast the weeks are flying by now as we head for the end of the year. A new week and the start of another fab linky party at Make It Monday.
Again we saw oodles of wonderful cards and projects last week which makes it so hard to pick one to showcase each week.
Congratulations to Jen Leeflang on having your card featured this week and also to Desire for being the winning commenter.
This week  we are being sponsored by Digi Doodle Shop and you can see the fab prize they are offering at the bottom of  my post.
I was able to choose a design to work with and I found this golfing image that intrigued me. It's called The Adamant Golfer - Focus and you can find it here
This is what I came up with:

Front of Card- Centre step card - I altered dimensions to make a rectangular card to accomodate my rectangular image.

 Inside of Card
Recipe:
SU Early Espresso cardstock for the center step card ( I changed the dimensions of the original template to create a rectangular card to suit my image.
SU Crumb Cake cardstock
DP from stash (not sure where I got this one from, but it's been in my stash for a while!)
Nestie Die - Curved Rectangles
Image - The Adamant Golfer - Focus from Digi Doodle Shop
Row of Golfers is a stamp from SU set ~ The Back Nine
Sentiment is from SU set ~ On the Green
Copic Markers
SU Early Espresso inkpad,
SU  Ballet Blue inkpad
SU Certainly Celery inkpad
I cut a couple of the golfballs and tees from the DP and adhered to card to make them firmer and used as embellies for the front of the card.
Bling - from stash

I am entering this into the following challenges:
No Matter Which Challenge - Challenge #2 ~ Die Cuts and/or punches

It's a gorgeous card, love the crisp image and that fab diecut and bow!!!

Here's our sponsor for this week,

DigiDoodle Shop is the results of a mother and daughter’s love for the arts and crafts.  It was started a little over 3 years ago with a little more than 100 stamps, and has since then grown to almost 500 stamps.  Joy (the mother of this team) designs realistic images, while Judy (aka/daughter) loves the “fun side of life”, and create images with a cartoon flair.  Having these two complimenting styles have enabled
DigiDoodle Shop to offer a wide variety of stamps.

The DigiDoodle Shop is giving away a $10.00 Store Gift Certificate to the lucky random winner!
Now it's your turn to start creating. Love to see your artwork over at MIM #108 and don't forget to visit some of the other blogs for your chance to win the prize on offer from Digi Doodle Shop.
Thanks for stopping by,

Sandy

Happy Father's Day - Classic Car

I'm back again! Tuesday is my day to visit Shirley and Doug and Fran and I make 3 fab cards that Shirley makes up for us. We always have a fun time together, lot's of laughter and chat, pats for the two dogs and Shirley makes us a cappaccino as well.
We also had a meal at a little eatery before heading back home and then I had to do a couple of loads of washing. It wasn't a good drying day today and it was too late to hang them on the line so back to using the clothes rack in front of the fire again!!!
I tidied the kitchen a bit and then found a bit of time to do some commenting on a few blogs. I made tea for us and then had to rush off to choir practice. We have a concert coming up at the end of the month so we only have a few practices left now.  I take a friend home and by the time I left her and got back here, it was rather late.
Thought I had better sit down and come up with a card for today and here is the end product.
The card is a top fold and I used diagonal panels to form a pocket for my tag.

The basecard is SU Early Espresso with a top fold
The Plaid DP is fromWeRMemoryKeepers 6x6 paper stack TRAVEL light

The Tag was made using SU Sahara Sand cardstock
Black and white gingham ribbon from stash - attached with a staple.
Sentiment is from Creative Expressions - Classic Cars
Car is from the same set, coloured with Copic Markers
Diecut - Sahara Sand backed with a piece of Early Espresso - car was popped up with foam dots.
Tyres on the tag and on the inside are from Kaiser Stamps - On the Move

Well, I had better get off to bed, hubby is fast asleep, not snoring at the moment, but, LOL, I bet as soon as my head hits the pillow, he will start!!!

Vintage penny Farthing

It's another very cold night ! It's supposed to go down to 4 or 5 degrees overnight. I don't want to turn in to a iceblock, so the electric blanket will probably be on until the bed is toasty.
LOL, I'm sitting here in front of the computer with 3 layers of clothes on and my scarf wound around my neck too.
After a bit of housework, I went off to a craft shop with my friend, Fran to pick up the Do Craft magazines that I have ordered for myself and a few other friends. Had to get one of my Copic Markers refilled and I actually remembered to take it with me!!!! We stopped on the way back and had lunch and then she took me to the supermarket to grab some afternoon tea for the ladies at Thursday afternoon craft group. By the time I got home and organised again I was running a bit late, but got there in the end. Spent some of the time talking and looking through the magazine and also having a bit of a look on Jane's   i-pad at a couple of blogs and some pics of her dog in his new coat.
Hubby and I decided to go to a different hotel as our normal dining partners on Thursday nights have gone away holidaying in their caravan, BBBRRRR!!!!! We went to a hotel called the Bombay Bicycle - it is an interesting place with lots of wooden animals, tigers, elephants etc. When you walk in there is a water feature and you can hear elephants trumpeting. There are bicycles hanging from the ceiling in the bar and lots of lovely woodwork, a huge open fire, an old telephone box, a garden that you can look down on with another water feature. We ate in the bistro and had a little room to ourselves with a fireplace, but it wasn't lit. There were other people in the bistro, but there are several rooms and so the patrons were spread out. It was a nice meal and good to have a change of venue. When we left there were a lot of people in the more casual bar area where you can go down some stairs and eat there as well.
Dropped hubby off at home and then went off to sing my little heart out at choir practice at church in the city.
Home again in time to watch part of Frost and then sat down to make this card,
Here is what I used,
Basecard is SU Not Quite Navy,  the DP is from a mini paper pad - Dear lizzy - Neapolitan by American Crafts. I distressed the DP with Tim Holtz Vintage ink and also used a little distress tool on the edges to give it an old look. I used another DP, looks like a journal page and is from another pad made by the same company called - Amy tangerine ~ sketchbook. I used a punch on the top of the paper and also used some of the ink and distressed as well. I backed it with a piece of distressed not quite navy card. The image was stamped using SU Creamy Caramel onto white card. I used the same technique on this after I had torn around the image. I adhered it to a piece of the not quite navy card and then tore that as well. To finish off, I attached this lovely metal brad from Kaisercraft. It was from a pack that I bought the other day. A real bargain at 50c a pack and it came in a nice plastic holder that has a slide zip. Ideal for storing stamps in, which is why I bought it and the brads were just the icing on the cake!
I've decorated the inside using more distressing, tearing and ink. I added some small sections from the stamp I used on the front to give it a bit of character.
I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Craft Your Passion - Challenge 113 ~ Chevrons - use a chevron pattern on your card.
Oozak - Challenge #3 - 2 papers and one or more embellies
Through the Craftroom Door - Challenge #27 ~ any form of distressing

Thanks for stopping by today and I've enjoyed reading the comment s left on my last post too!
Take Care,
Sandy

Wild About You

Welcome to my blog, I'm up late as usual, I had my eldest daughter over this morning, looking at venues on the computer and different menus and prices. They are still looking for somewhere to have the wedding reception in November. When she left, I got ready and went to my friend' Judy's for craft. I just took some digis to colour. All the girls gave me birthday gifts which was very kind!!Some crafty bits and pieces for cardmaking, a large container with segmented boxed sections on the sides to keep beads or crafty things in. A lovely wooden box with a bird painted on it, a mug and a purple watch that has a clip so you can hang it on your bag on maybe on your jeans. And, of course, several hand made cards too. I made my teeth sore again eating corn chips so when I got home had to have panadol, it has taken several hours to settle down again. I still have a couple of weeks before I get to see the dentist again, so will have to watch what I eat from now on. Well I will get on and share my card. I've used blue card for the basecard, I think it is one of the SU blues, but I've lost the packet. The DP is from a mini stack by We R Memory Keepers called "Travel light" - a freebie pack with a magazine. The image is a digi from Bugaboo and coloured with Copic Markers. The sentiment is from SU set "Wild About You" I used two different nestie shapes to cut the image and the backing - that is SU Garden Green. On the inside of the card I also used a piece of Garden Green, a scrap of the DP and a white nestie shape as well.
I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Make It Monday #85 - Anything Goes
Crafty Boots Challenges - No girls allowed
There She Goes - TSG152 - Cards for Dad.
I better publish this and head off to bed, thanks for stopping by and for your wonderful comments. Take Care,
Sandy
