Baby Love

Wow, we had a whiz bang electrical storm tonight. The rain came down so heavy it worked it's way through the roof and in between the internal walls of our bathroom and ran down the tiles and also from the window frame. The electricity fluttered and the lights  went off and then back on. Was pretty pleased that the power didn't go out altogether as I'd only just put a roast in the oven!!!! (yep, it's electric). We had a lovely meal in the end but the rain persisted for several hours and the main road at the top of our street erupted, possibly a burst water main so we had lots of traffic cutting through our street and even a city bus!!!
Anyway, it's calm now at the very end of today, just about to kick over into the new day and here I am trying to beat the clock!
We have a new challenge at Crafty Girls Creations challenge blog today. It's always Anything Goes so no excuse for not joining in the fun and our sponsor Pattie's Creations is giving away a great prize of some of her digis.
I used an image that I already had and here is what I made.....

Oval Punches are also from SU
Die is from Nellie Snellen

A sleeping baby Challenge 73 at Crafting From the Heart

Good afternoon, another cool, drizzly day today after yesterday's sunshine. The only real day of sunshine for quite a while and would have been perfect to catch up on some washing but no......we had the power out all day due to the overhead wires on the main road being put underground instead. We've had months of road work in the lead up to this event and I've had enough. Our road has been closed off at the top end more often than it's been open so let's hope this in the end of it!!! Ok enough moaning and I will get on and share my DT make for Crafting From The Heart Challenges. Our sponsor this week is QKR Stampede and I got to use this sweet image
Here is my card.....

Time once more to say goodbye, I have our 3 oldest grandchildren here, all home from school with colds as Mum and Dad(who is also sick) are working. I had the youngest granddaughter staying overnight last night and also all day today and she is grumpy, so 4 to watch over and I'm still coughing  although I am pretty much over the bug I had. Halle is sitting in the high chair next to me as I just can't type with her grizzling on my knee, so, lol, I am plying her with small gingerbread people while I get on with this!!!
My fellow teamies and I would love to see what you come up with this week, so please pop into the challenge blog and use Mr. Linky.

Challenge 63 at Crafting from the Heart

Hello, I'm back! We've been away in the Mallee region of Sth Australia where my husband grew up. Most of the family came up to stay with us so we had all five of our grandies and 4 of our children and their husbands and wives too. Oh, I forgot, we had 6 furbabies there as well.  We had the bonfire going to sit around and talk and to cook our barbeque and also make roast lamb and roast pork in the camp ovens. A relaxing time was had by all. Most of the girls helped doing two puzzles - one was a large one shaped like a cow and had pictures of another cow, pigs, geese and chickens and a barn in a field and two large sunflowers within in. A very unusual puzzle!
So......now that I'm home I can type my post up. We left Friday and I've only arrived home about 7pm tonight.
Onto the challenge details for the new challenge starting today at Crafting From The Heart. We have two sponsors this time and they are Just Inklined and Deedee's Digis. I was lucky enough to use an image from both of the sponsors and here are my cards........

Hello Baby

A quick post as I'm in the middle of tea preparation. I purchased a magazine from Kraftyhands recently and it comes with a disc so you can print off all the sheets you need to make all the projects featured in the magazine. I thought I would have a play with this one which is for a baby girl. Cute isn't it. I have changed the card around and used only parts of the printed sheets and some things from my stash to make it my own creation. I have used the sketch for the current Kraftyhands challenge so will be entering this into the challenge. It's a just for fun challenge.
Here is my card..... The image is been made 3D with several layers thanks to the CD

MIM#151 Baby - Oh Boy, Oh Boy with Meljen's Designs

Well the week hasn't really flown for me as I'm still suffering from that bothersome back pain, both sides have been playing up and then yesterday I woke up feeling much better and decided my poor hair has been waiting long enough for a bit of colour and decided to muddle along and dye it myself. I usually get my daughter to do it but thought she might be busy with her own stuff. Hubby had gone off to the country on Saturday afternoon and came home Sunday evening so I had been picking up pieces of wood for the fire too which were probably a bit too big for me to handle with a sore back. The outcome was going off to bed very sore again. So far this morning it is not too bad, so I had better behave myself. I'm babysitting our 2 year old grandson, but he is no problem and I very rarely have to pick him up as he can climb up onto the lounge and the bed. Changing his nappy is a slight problem but if I get it done quickly it's not too bad.
Well.... that's my grumble for the day, LOL. and now onto happier things!!!
Make It Monday linky party begins again today and this week we are being sponsored by Meljen's Designs Digital Stamps. They are offering the winner 4 single digis, a fab prize.
I chose to play with this cute little dragon image. I think I am the only one out of the DT that thought he was wearing a little top. See the marks around the neckline, looked the collar of a little jumper, so I've coloured it accordingly. Either way, he is very cute!
Congrratulations to Monica as our featured artist and also to Tracey who won the prize offered last week. Enjoy your images!
Here's my card.....
Recipe:
SU Pacific Point cardstock
SU Bashful Blue cardstock
White cardstock from stash
DP is a scrap piece from stash, I've had this one a long time

Baby Dresser Card - MIM #112

Linky Party Time again over at Make It Monday and it's no #112. Hope you are going to join us this time around. I enjoyed last week's entries, lots and lots of wonderful creations to drool over too!!!
Congrats to this week's featured artist  Pinky  and also to  Pia  for the winning comment.
This could be you, so get those entries in and check out the other blogs and leave a comment. The more blogs you visit, the more chances you have at being the winning commenter.
My card for the DT this week was made using  a YouTube tutorial to make this cute baby dresser side step card and you can see it here.
I've used a pre-coloured image from Cupcake Cards & Crafts to decorate my card.

Front of card

Inside of card - It's a bit of an odd space because of the two folds and the cut through the top section, but it gives you somewhere to write other than on the back of the card.
I followed the tutorial for folding and it does not give a crisp crease in the card. I think next time I would measure it and then score it properly to avoid the uneven look it created. In real life it looks okay but here in the scan I think it looks worse.....

Recipe:
SU Pink Pirouette cardstock to make the side step card.
SU Pink Passion inkpad for all the distressed edges
DP was a scrap from my bits and pieces pile!!! - I'm not sure, but it could have been from SU
Nestalbilities die - Labels Four - I cut the diecut and then it wouldn't quite fit where I wanted it, so.... it got the chop on each side and I followed that through on the inside diecut as well
The image is from Cupcake Cards & Crafts and is called - Little Bears ~ a set of 6 pre-coloured images
The little feet are stickers from my stash (at least 5 years old!)- I stuck them onto some scrap card and fussy cut around each one and then mounted up with foam dots.
Decorative Border punch - not sure where I got this one, it says APEX on the side
Decorative label punch - used half only to form the bottom of the dresser.
Brads from stash
Sentiment is from Paper Salon

I am entering this into the following challenges:
Little Claire's Designs - Monthly Challenge #26 ~ New Arrivals
One Stop Craft Challenge - Challenge 201 ~ Anything Goes
The Poodles Parlour - Anything Goes
Card Mania Challenges - CMC#6 ~ Oh, Baby.....

Our sponsor this week is Cupcake Cards & Crafts, so pop over and check out their store and see all the fab digital papers and the cute pre-coloured images too!

where you will find fresh and contemporary digital downloadable and printable papers for cardmaking, scrapbooking and papercrafting.
There are some totally gorgeous new paper packs available right now and with this week's prize of a paper pack of the winners choice up for grabs you could be lucky enough to get your hands on a pack just by leaving a comment for another entry in this week's linky party. Be sure to mention you saw them on MIM. The more entries you comment the more chances you have of winning.

Simple Baby Card

Wow, I am really late again tonight. We ended up travelling toVictor Harbour today to go to a Charity Auction, not the usual one we go to. We met our friends there but it was a very small auction and not much there this time, so we ended up checking out a small grower's market. I bought 3 plants, a mint, a coriander and a curly parsley. Trying to make a bit of a herb garden. There was also a rock and roll festival on this weekend, with old cars from that era and live music. We strolled around that for a little while and then went back to our friends' house for lunch. The guys went back into the town to see a bit more of the festival and we gals stayed at the house and watched a DVD and chatted.
We got home early evening and our youngest son and his girlfriend decided to cook tea for us. Emma is Vietnamese so she made a vegetable soup, sweet and sour and then they steamed a whole fish and made a sauce to go with it and also rice.  It was all very good.
I've been finishing off my DT card and then quickly made this simple little baby card to share.
Here it is:

I've used textured cardstock from DCWV 12x12 paper stack - I cut an aperture using a die and then pricked holes around the edge. I stamped this cute little deer from SU Forest Friends using SU Pacific Point inkpad and then added the sentiment from SU Sweet Little Sentiments.
I added a gingham ribbon and bow and that's it finished. Told you it was Simple!!!

Thanks for stopping by - Hope you are enjoying your weekend break.
Take Care,
Sandy

Sweet

Hi again, how's your weekend going so far. Mine has been quiet so far. I managed a sleep in this morning for a little while and then spent the rest of the day here at home pottering around. Talked to Mum on the phone, rang my daughter and tried to keep warm. We are running a bit low on wood again, so put off starting the fire till mid afternoon when I just couldn't stand my legs freezing any more!!!
Adrian hasn't had the time yet to get the kitchen light fixed so another night of cooking in the semi-dark with just a lamp and the stove top light, which is not too bright.
Well as usual I am up late making my card so I will just get on and share it...
I've used the sketch again from yesterday and the correct image to go into the challenge at Meljen's Designs, so here it is.

Front of card
 Inside of card

 Recipe:
Pink cardstock from stash for the basecard

Off to Sea

Hi to anyone visiting today. Not much sunshine around still and now they've forecast more rain!!! No use complaining as we always need the rainfall so our water supply is okay for Summer.  South Australia is the driest state in Australia.
I had craft this morning and as I have only one other lady on the table, we just did our own thing. I took images to colour and a few toys for Isaac to play with. He had another nap while we were there. A quiet afternoon here at home after giving him some lunch as he had another couple of hours sleep and woke up to day hello to his uncle when he popped in.
I had the evening to myself as our youngest son is on a service team for a rally car, so he was off at that and hubby went with him. I think our other two sons ended up going as well.
So here I am at the tail end of the day, chatting to you and hope you are interested in seeing my card for today.
It's a Rocker Card.
SU
I haven't put anything other than the image and a sentiment on the card. It is for friend's of ours whose eldest son and DIL have just had a baby boy.  I don't have any grandparents stamps and didn't want to muck around on the computer so have just put congratulations on it and backed the circle with another one so I could write a greeting on the back.

Recipe:
SU Night of Navy cardstock for the Rocker basecard
DP is from My Mind's Eye
Image is a digi from Teddy Bo
Copic Markers
Sentiment is from SU

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Thanks for looking and for your comments too. I always read them and they are much appreciated.

Bundle of Joy

Hi again,
Welcome to my little blog and especially to Karen, Angel and Lisa, my latest followers.Hope you will enjoy popping in from time to time.
I took our two granddaughters to see "Brave" at the cinema today. They enjoyed the chicken nuggets I bought for their lunch and also the popcorn during the movie. I asked the youngest one (4 yr old) what bit did she like and her answer was "the scary bit" So that took up late morning and most of the afternoon as I dropped into the shops for a couple of grocery items and then stopped at our youngest daughters. I was only there about 2 minutes as she was getting ready to go out to a movie herself with a friend. I knew she had worked a shift and was getting home mid afternoon.
When I got home, I thought I had better do my DT duties and do some commenting on entries to MIM.
We had left overs for tea and I actually sat in the back room most of the night watching tv and then pulling out some of my craft and making my card out there too. It was nice to be in the warmth.
Well as usual, it is very late and I will get on and share my card
Here is what I made tonight:

New Arrival

How are you today? I hope you have had a good day and all is well in your part of the world. I had a quiet morning at home and then joined 3 other friends for our Thursday craft group, We started off at the church I attended hoping to meet a need in the community but it just never got off the ground. The area is only five minutes from the city and I suppose a lot of people worked and those that didn't just weren't interested. I am the co-ordinator of the group and as I no longer attend that church we meet at Jane's house as she has a nice big table and LOL, air-conditioning!!! We started off with about 8 people and some of them have moved on and been replaced by a couple of others. There were 7 of us last year and now we usually have between 3-5 regulars. We always enjoy our get togethers.
I don't usually make cards during class time, but mainly stamp and colour images for later use, today I shocked the girls by finishing a whole card, LOL.
Here it is, I made it for a young couple at church who have just had a baby boy named Samuel.
I started with SU Night of Navy for the cardbase, a layer of SU Bashful blue, distressed the edges. The Dp is a scrap from stash. I then layered another scrap of a different DP onto Bashful blue and again onto Night of Navy, Both these pieces of card were distressed. I tied a strip of ribbon around this little layer and then took another length of ribbon and threaded it through the first ribbon and tied a bow, a new way of making a ribbon for me. The image is from SU called "Bringing the Baby" and was borrowed from Jane, I coloured little sections with Copic Markers and matted with the two blue cardstocks which I distressed as well. Sentiment is from a retired SU set and inked in Pacific Blue. I used the word window punch and the decorative label punch and added some bright blue bling to finish it off.
All card except for the basecard was also from my scrap stash, hope this qualifies for Pixie's Challenge.
I would like to enter this into the following,
My Craft Spot Monday Challenge - Anything Goes
Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog - "What's new Pussycat"
Pixies Crafty Snippets Challenge - no. 5
The pic with the stork is the front of the card and the other pic is the inside.
By the way, I just found out one of my cards was picked in the top three for a sketch challenge at Come and Get it Challenges. Thanks Jane for letting me know.
