Challenge # 5 Completely Christmas Challenge Blog

Finally we have a new little granddaughter after a very dramatic home birth. I think we are extremely lucky that she is here at all. I got to see her today. My SIL asked me to come over to help out with some of the housework and also just to be there while Katie was doing other things. She is on medication for pain and also antibiotics. Bubs is very small - 2.6 kg (about 6 lb) I feel less stressed but still a bit uptight re the whole situation.
Anyway, now I'm a bit late doing my post, so I had better hurry up as I have to go out tonight as well.
Here is the card using an image from My Heart's Pieces

Trio of Hot Air Balloons

Well, 6:30 a.m. this morning we got a text message from our daughter saying the baby was on the move and as she is having a home birth, I didn't want to ring her during the day to see how far along she was so we were thinking at 6 pm tonight that she must be having a long labour and then about 15 minutes later we get an update, that after starting about 1:45 a.m. last night the contractions had started to fizzle out about lunchtime and bubs has called it quits!!!!. So the wait starts once more, lol. They weren't the false labour pains and I've heard of some women that have on and off labours. I told her to tell that baby that it was time to meet the rellies and he or she couldn't avoid it!!! So hopefully we will get another message later to say "It's Time" again, lol.
As promised I'm back with a second card using my freebie hot air balloon stamp. This time I stamped it three times and paper pieced them using similar toned papers. Some more cloudy background and a Tim Holtz  stamp.
Here is the card......

Recipe:
Black cardstock for the cardbase from stash
Grey cardstock  for the matte from stash
White cardstock from stash
SU Rose Red cardstock
Scraps of DP (not sure whose)
Sentiment is from Tim Holtz's 100th Collection (one of those sets I decided I needed and this is the first time I've inked any of them up - I've had the set for about 12 months or more!!!)
D/S tape roller
Foam Dots
Brown pearls from stash
Memento Black inkpad
SU Ballent Blue inkpad

Thanks for stopping by - I'd better publish this and get some commenting done for one of my DT commitments.

Hugs,

Hot Air Balloon - Celebrate

A quiet day at home looking after our grandson. Another day has gone past with still no movement on the baby situation with our eldest daughter. I spoke with Mum on the phone for a little while and popped up to the shop for a few groceries and that was it (did do the dishes and a load of washing!!!). The nights are turning cold again and am almost tempted to put the flannelette sheets back on the bed. I actually popped the electric blanket on for a while last night as we still have our summer quilt on the bed too.
I managed to make a DT card and also this evening have made this one for my class on Wednesday. Will probably try and come up with another one still using the same image, but a different layout. This stamp was from a freebie set with magazine purchase and is ideal for paper piecing.
Here it is.......

Recipe:
SU Tangerine Tango cardstock for the basecard
SU Burnt Brown Sugar cardstock for the mattes
White cardstock - I used SU Ballerina Blue and created a cloudy background for my balloon
Image is from a freebie stampset - vintage images all really nice!
DP is from my scrap pile
Cloud die from Sizzix
Sentiment from SU Feeling Sentimental clear stamp set
Memento Black inkpad
Punch (not sure what that one is called)

It's getting quite late and as I had a very late night last night, I had better finish off and head off to bed.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Challenge #64 Wishing You this Kind of Happy

It's time for another challenge at 613 Avenue Create and as usual, it's an Anything Goes Challenge with an optional twist this week of "Birds of a Feather"
Our sponsors are Doodle Pantry and Oak Pond Creations. I was able to play with this sweet image from Doodle Pantry.
Here it is...... the DP I've used was difficult to capture as it has very light pastel coloured feathers on it. Even in real life, you really have to look carefully......you can just see some of them in my picture here.

a close up of the cute little bird enjoying his bath!!!
Recipe:
SU Bashful Blue cardstock for the base, matte and flower
Pale Grey (greenish, lol!) cardstock from stash
DP from Cre8tiv paper pad - Birds of a Feather (foil and glossed) - although the one I used with the feathers is just an ordinary printed one from the pad
Image is Bird Bath Joy B   from Doodle Pantry
Sentiment from the same set
Nestie Die- Ovals
Flower die cut made using a Marianne Creatables die
Punches - large wide oval
Washi tape from stash

Challenge #4 at Completely Christmas

Sorry I'm a bit late. I've been out most of the day with our two daughters at a Baby Expo!!! Walking around with one who is now five days overdue and the other one who is due in September. I even bought some things, lol. A new booster seat for our number two granddaughter because the other one is just too wide to fit comfortably in my car and this is a lot narrower and can be folded up for storage as well. Just what I was looking for when I bought the bigger one and couldn't find. Then I splurged and bought them both a set of bottles and a contraption to connect a shawl or blanket etc to their clothes when they are breastfeeding. Just as we were leaving we did a last minute toilet stop and they had an area with small farm animals in for the children to play in and there was two of our grandchildren running around and our DIL as well. She was there with her sister who had a little boy 8 weeks ago. We didn't know they were going and vice a versa!
Anyway I had better get on and share the card I made for the DT on Completely Christmas - I love this gorgeous image of the two birds, definitely one to keep and use again.
Here is my card...... It has an extra fold at the front which holds the little fence, holly and sentiment.

This is a close up of the birds and you can see I've used a textured card to print the image on. This is because I can no longer get a 210 gsm weight paper  so have had to pay a bit more money and use this cardstock which is the right weight and is okay for using the copic markers on. You don't notice the texture when you are looking at the card and I quite like how it looks anyway, lol.

Recipe:
SU Calypso Coral cardstock for the cardbase and diecut
White textured cardstock from Quill
Scraps for the fence and holly
DP is from First Edition Paper 12x12 paper pad - Christmas Village
Image is Chickadees digital stamp from Sparkle N Sprinkle
Sentiment is from Su - More Merry Messages set of clear stamps
Dies - Joy Crafts for the large die cut, Nestie Classic Circles, Cottage Cutz for the holly, sorry need to check whose the fence die was so fill that in later when I find it!
Punches - Large Scalloped Square
Copic Markers
SU Ballet Blue inkpad
Memento Black inkpad
D/S tape roller

I am entering the following challenges:
Brown Sugar Challenge - Challenge #86 ~ Anything Goes
Jingles Belles - The Holly and the Ivy ~ some sort of foliage
QKR Stampede Challenge - Challenge #80 ~ A little birdie told me
Sister Act Card Challenge - Challenge #49 ~ Anything Goes
4 Krafty Girlz - Challenge 14 ~ Anything Goes
Creative Knockouts - Challenge #29 ~ Things with Wings
Crafty Creations Challenges - Challenge #259 Holiday

Pick of the Week Entries from the Last MIM

Good morning from Sth Australia, we've had a funny weekend weather wise. Very windy and rain as well. Hubby went off on both Saturday and Sunday for motorbike rides with the motorcycle clubs he is in. I think it didn't rain during his ride today- Sunday (well it didn't here at home, but we had rain after he got home) but Saturday there was late rain and he holed up somewhere for a while to keep out of it and got home pretty late. At the time of writing this (late Sunday night) my eldest daughter is waiting out the tail end of her pregnancy. She is due today (Monday) so hopefully she doesn't go over. I did with my last son and I hated it!!! I had five children, the oldest came a day early, I think my doctor scared me into it, lol. he was putting me into hospital the day after my last visit because I had toxemia (I think there is another name for it now) and I was most upset about having to go into hospital. Anyway my water broke and I went in to deliver my son instead! The next three all came on their due dates and Laurie was a few days late. I'd appreciate prayers for her and the baby's safe arrival as she has decided to have a home birth and this is her first baby.

Well......Not exactly sure whether we were to choose some entries to share from our last linky party, but I know Shirley was going to, so I am joining her in showcasing a few fabulous creations.

My POTW entries are...........
From Bridie at BGPayne Crafts and you can find it here on her blog

The second one is from Anja of BastelBlog von Anja & Katy and you can find it here on her blog

Lucky last one is from Vinita from New Creations and can be seen here on her blog

Time for me to go, my car and eldest son's car (he is dropping it off early Monday morning) are having services done on them here at home by a friend who runs his own mobile mechanic business.
Again many thanks to all of you who have joined in the wonderful Linky Party whether you were an occasional entrant or one of our wonderful mainstays. We have enjoyed visiting you and hope you enjoyed checking out other blogs for inspiration and finding blogging friends along the way.
What a fabulous community of creative artists/crafters we have in this world. Stay that way and pop in from time to time.
Thanks for stopping by,
Take Care,
Hugs,
Sandy
