Sorry, I didn't post yesterday, ran out of time during the day to sit down at the computer and didn't even get time to make a card! We got home about 1 p.m. and after putting a couple of things away, went straight off to bed.
The engagement party went well although it was quite a cold night. Adrian got a fire going outside and we set some chairs around it. He and the boys managed to close in the car port with heavy tarps as well and they had an industrial blow heater that our youngest won as as Apprentice of the Year. There were about 75 people and a few children too. It was a great turn-out with costumes too. A lot of people got into the spirit of the theme and came dressed as someone/something starting with the letter "F" We had farmers, fishermen, fortune tellers, flower girls, fairies, firemen, FBI agents, Foo Fighter, Face Book page, Free Hugs, Fozzie Bear, Frankenstein, Forensic scientist (my niece, who does actually work in this field!!), a foreign exchange student, Felix the cat, a Fremantle supporter, several Football players and fans and several others I can't remember. Oh, there were two "Fabio's" as well. And me as a flapper, there was another girl who came as a flapper too but she wore black and I was decked out in red.
The cupcakes turned out in the end and everyone thought they looked good and were yummy as well. I did a very short speech, our daughter decided that because the Mum's don't get a look in normally at the wedding for speechmaking that I should do it at the engagement. Anyway, a good time was had by all. They even had George's uncle, who is the priest that will marry them in December, bless their engagement rings. I found it very moving - based on faith and commitment.
Today we were surprised with a knock on the door and the arrival of a friend who had gone interstate and we've been looking after his motorcycle. He was not due back until Monday, but he had got his dates mixed up and told us the wrong day. I was up and showered and dressed but Adrian hadn't made a move from the bed, LOL. Anyway, I ended up leaving them to it and going off to church on my own. Well, he was still here when I got back nearly 2 1/2 hours later! When he did leave, we had some lunch and then a very quiet afternoon, I didn't even do the dishes, which are mounted up from all the baking efforts. Tomorrow will be clean the kitchen day!!!!
I did get some time to craft tonight so will get on and share my card.
I've used SU Pacific Point for the cardbase and made the fold at the top. Added a layer of SU Pacific Point card and then a layer of DP from DCWV -The Sweet Stack - a 12x12 pack of heavy DP. I cut two nestie shapes and printed off this little cutie from Bugaboo Stamps and coloured her with Copic Markers and then cut her out. I did try cutting her slightly around the legs and the hand first and then slipping the nestie die over and cutting out but ended up with a slight notch of card missing out of the circle near the hane so not quite sure what I did wrong. I coloured a little section of the circle in to give her a base to sit on. I added a piece of ribbon around the bottom and then stamped the sentiment ( a freebie with a magazine) onto white card and cut out with a ticket punch. I backed it with a piece of the Pacific Blue and added some little lines with a blue marker. I popped the image and the sentiment on with foam dots. I continued the theme on the inside with a piece of the blue card, a strip of DP and a white circle diecut.
